Winter pruning is not inherently harmful, but it carries a different risk profile than pruning during active growth. Understanding those risks requires shifting how pruning is viewed. It is not a cosmetic adjustment; it is a structural event that alters how a plant allocates energy, responds to stress, and prepares for future growth.
